This week our focus has been on Listening to and following instructions. Sometimes it's been a challenge, but we've been preserving. Here are some of the activities we've done this week.

Team work

Today Matua Paulo came and taught our class games that relied on Teamwork. There was noughts and crosses using hoops and bean bags.  Then there was a passing game where you had to pass the ball to your team mates but not the person on either side of you. It wasn't as easy as you think it would be, especially when Matua started adding more balls. .1

Watersafety with Whaea Nancy

Whaea Nancy was with Room 5 and was teaching us about boat safety and what to do if your boat capsized. It was a very cool experience and gave you a sense of what it feels like to be tipped out of a boat and how challenging and tiring it can be to get back in. It brought home the importance of wearing a life jacket and working as a team.
Definitely a great life lesson.

Morning tea shout

Room 3 and Room 5 got shouted a delicious morning tea from NZ Rugby for being test pilots in the Tākarokaro programme. We had tasty wraps, fruit and muffins. What a great way to start the week!

Games on!

This week Room 5 have been playing some pretty cool games with Room 3 and Room 4.  We played Capture the flag which is a syndicate favourite.
Yesterday we played a game with Room 3 where you pass the ball to your teammates until you get to the end of the field in the rectangle space played out with cones.
We've also been playing Dodge ball with just our class, which was very competitive.  Then on Friday we had Matua Paulo come and teach us some super fun games. The game had no name but it involved passing the ball to your teammates for a set amount of throws. ,

Women's Rugby world cup @ Ahipara School

Yesterday we had the Women's Rugby World Cup visit Ahipara School. Our tamariki were very excited!
Room 3 and 5 have been testing the Tākarokaro website which promotes being active and making connections between students, schools and sports clubs in the community.
We wish the the Black Ferns Women's Rugby team all the best for their campaign in October 2022.

End of year Pool trip

We chucked our masks on and leapt onto the bus. It was going to be  fun as day. When we arrived Nikau and I threw off our t-shirts and spirinted over to the dive pool to pop some fat as manus.

It was starting to get cold so we jumped out to have a feed, Nikau fell asleep within five minutes, while I dived back in to have some shoulder wars with Ken and Hemi. Next we went to pop some more fat ones and to watch the bottle pops.

A little while later, we jumped back on the bus and cruised back to school to have a sausage sizzle and to play some games. It was a mean as day!
