Bio Poems

WALT: Write an interesting Bio Poems

Room 5 have been working hard at writing their Bio poems to describe themselves where they share interesting information about themselves. We hope you enjoy reading them.

Reflection:
What we learned was to... write an interesting Bio Poem about ourselves.
What we enjoyed was... showing our creativity when we were writing our Bio Poems.
What we found challenging was... having to follow the correct layout of our Bio poems, checking our spelling and putting the punctuation marks in the right places.
What we could do to improve... finish our poems quicker and edit our work properly.

Horohopu

Walt: play Horohopu

To play Horohopu you split your class into two groups. The ref throws the ball up in the air & you have to pass it to your team mates without running, until you cross the goal area.
Reflection:
We learned how to play a new game called Horohopu.
We enjoyed learning to play a new game and to practice our throwing and catching skills.
We sometimes found it challenging to listen carefully to instructions.
Next time we could work on looking at and listening to the speaker without talking.

Today Room 5 had a great time with our Watersafety teacher Whaea Nancy. She taught Ruma Rima students how to do a lot of different tasks to help us be confident in the water.
We had to be fully dressed in the water and we also wore lifejackets.

Capture the flag

WALT: play a game and follow the rules

Room 5 played Capture the flag. In Capture the flag your class gets split into two teams. Then each side has to try and get a ball from the other team's side of the field into their side. You can kick the ball over but it must be caught on the other side by a member of your team or you can run it across. If you get caught you have to stand under the goal post of the opposing team. To get out a member from your team you have to run and touch their hand when they're under the goal post. The team with the most points wins.
This was a very enjoyable and fun game played by Room 5. Matua Paulo even joined in!The students played the game and followed the rules fairly well. Next time it would be encouraging to see students cheering one another on (both their team mates and the opposition).

Kaiara Poaka (Pig Hunter)

Walt: Play Kaiari Poaka

Room 5 learned to play Poaka Kaiari. The oject if the game was for the pig hunters to catch the pigs by taking off their tags. Room 5 had lots of fun chasing and running away from one another.
Next time a goal for Room 5 would be to get ready quicker and to listen to instructions from Matua Derek carefully.
