Te Rarawa o Te Runanga (our local iwi) organised this planting with DOC (Department of Conservation). DOC brought the plants and helped promote this dune restoration programme. Our iwi organised a sausage sizzle for all of us which was delicious and they plant along with us.
My favourite part was working together because together we managed to plant 750 plants, which was awesome! I also enjoyed the Whanau meat sausages and the free pens given from DOC.
Next time I need to remember to take a hat because it was quite hot. Overall it was a great day and I can't wait until the next Mapere planting day!

I really like how you explained everything in the caption. It seems like you guys are already pro bloggers (Or should I say your teacher). ReplyDeleteHi Ahipara School. It's Miro H from Paroa school here. Looks like you had heaps of fun planting those plants. Our school did something like this. We planted some broadleaves by a stream/drain that a digger had dug out. How big do these plants grow? Do you think you will be able to see them from your school? It looks really cool!
